What a Mess

Over the course of the last month the stock market is down from 13,000 to 11,300. The last housing report showed home prices had dropped 15% since last year and were now below 2004 levels. Unemployment sky rocketed last month from 5.0% to 5.5%. You get the feeling that things are getting worse before they get better.

But not for everyone.

This week plans were announced to build a new 80 story skyscraper in Dubai. The sky scraper would take different shapes and would be in constant motion. The best part is....your gasoline consumption paid for it.

If that is not enough, try this ski slope indoors in Dubai. This one picture doesn't do it justice, go to the link for all the photos.

In typical fashion there always needs to be someone to blame for our run of bad fortune and their run of ... fortune. Is it their fault that we are in this predicament or ours? The truth is that a series of bad choices of all of us has left us in this predicament.

Just as our choices got us into this mess, our choices and resolve needs to get us out of this. We aren't going to go from bad choices to perfect choices, but bad to better, better to good, and good to great should be our short term goals.

Like my wife and I often tell our children "make good choices". Seems to me, they should be the ones saying that to us.
