John McCain and The NYTimes article As sloppy as the romantic link was, the rest of the article was pretty unflattering to John McCain.


Hillary Clinton vs Peter Semetis bad enough she is getting her ass kicked by Barack Obama, but this article about a small vendor taking her campaign to small claims court has to be embarrassing.

$400 Haircut. It is hard to portray yourself as fighting for the working man while you are in Beverly Hills getting $400 haircuts. Not only did he do it twice but he charged it to his campaign where it was bound to be found out through review of expenses.

The winner is.....John McCain and the New York Times story. Once you get past the sloppy journalism around the romantic link, there is enough on here to haunt John for the rest of the campaign.

A couple of months ago, an incredible moron hijacked my blog and wrote an insane post something to the effect of " Why I'm not happy my favorite basketball team traded for my favorite player". This incredible moron made some great points that All Star teams never work and that Gerald Green would haunt us the way that Chauncy Billups haunts us.

Well, if we want Gerald Green back we can sign him at the end of the season since Minnesota didn't extend his rookie contract. As for the All Star Teams never work, I guess Bird McHale Parrish DJ and Walton must have never played in All star games.

As much as I have always loved watching Kevin Garnett play, his value to the team far transcends the numbers. To appreciate how good he is you have to watch him over several games do the little things that do not show up in box scores. For the first 30 games he has put up some of the worst numbers of his career, yet is the consensus MVP over the first 30 games.

There are many great players in the league. I would argue that there are more great players in the league now than at any point in the history of the league. But there are few special players that are special players that are not only great themselves, but also make their whole team better. Bird did it, Magic did it, Jordan did it, and Garnett does it. (Kobe, not so much)

Paul Pierce is having a career year on both sides of the ball. On offense you can attribute his performance to having Garnett and Allen free him up from doubles and triple teams. On defense, Paul has long been considered a weak defender (although his rookie year he was a very good defender). The difference this year is that everyone feeds of KG's energy and nobody wants to be the cause of a let down.

Tonight against the Rockets, it was the first home game after a quick but draining West Coast trip. When you could see the Rockets take control of the game because the Celtics were wiped out, Kevin Garnett picked up the team by himself and pulled out the game. During a late time out when the game was decided, Paul Pierce jumped on Kevin Garnett's back illustrating what was visible for anyone watching the game.

The Celtics now have a 7 game winning streak, it is their third of at least that length in their 30 game season. They are playing the most inspired basketball in the NBA and have sparked renewed interest around the league.

So all I can say is that whoever wrote that incredibly stupid post in July was icredibly wrong. I will tighten security to ensure that it doesn't happen again.

Last night I got a chance to watch my first Presidential debate, I've heard a couple on Podcasts, but this was the first I've watched live on TV. Given that Mrs Clinton is running away with it in the polls, it promised to be a slug fest.

Most of the candidates (excluding Bill Richardson) threw grenades at Hillary. She didn't help herself by stepping on a few land mines herself.

Often I wonder why some of the lower candidates are invited. Bill Richardson is overmatched and Dennis Kucinich admitted that he had seen UFO's. Yes, a Presidential candidate admitted to seeing UFO's during a debate. However, if the lower candidates were eliminated, we would have missed the star of the night. I am surprised that anyone that watched the debate last night comes away with any other opinion that Joe Biden won the debate in a landslide. He was brilliant, sharp, well thought out, very Presidential for whatever that is worth, and on occasion funny. At one point I turned to my wife and remarked, this guy could have won my vote tonight. My wife's response said it all "he seems pretty good, who is he?". In one stroke she coined the theme to his new campaign song.

If you have followed Rudy's campaign at all, this was the debate's best line of the night.


Then there were the Clinton attacks. A conservative website put together this montage on the attacks on Clinton.



In addition to her opponents attacking her, she mishandled two questions. The biggest issue was when she was asked if she would release the Presidential papers on her advice to her husband since it is that experience that she is running on. She didn't come out and say no, but she double talked the issue so much that it clearly didn't look good. The second issue was her mishandling the question about illegal immigrants licenses where in the span of 2 minutes she said she was for it then against it. I expect that this will get a lot of mileage and could hurt her.

Quick news story about National Guards that had it's deployment cut "short" at 729 days in Iraq. While that alone is tough enough, they fall one day short of qualifying for education benefits. 1100 soldiers fall between 1 and 12 days short of collecting $200 per month education benefits. After this story has gotten national attention the army is saying they will fix it.

I was at a terrible Celtics game a few years ago when at half time these two ballroom dancers came out to perform. A bad game was about to get worse. The three of us at the game muttered something sarcastic about the entertainment being as good as the Celtics.

A few minutes later the whole crowd gave these performers a standing ovation. Easily more entertaining than the game, David and Dania stole the show.

A few month's later I came across this Slate article below about their act. More recently they were on America's Got Talent and stole the show.

I feel bad for those in the beer line. They missed the best show of the night.

The quick-change artists who dominate the NBA halftime circuit.

Their perfectionism is a habit developed during decades' worth of circus work. Russian-born Dania Kaseeva debuted with the Moscow Circus at 14, simultaneously spinning myriad hula hoops around her waist, neck, and limbs. (NBA teams often book Quick Change for one game, then Kaseeva's solo hula-hoop act for the following one—a twofer package that makes David & Dania all the more attractive.) David Michael Maas was juggling on a tightrope at 8 and later became an accomplished ringmaster.

David & Dania launched the first incarnation of Quick Change in 1996, a year after they met. They're by no means the first practitioners of quick-change magic; the trick dates back to the 19th century, and the first English-language manual to describe the art was published in 1911. Back then, magicians connected the various layers via hook-and-eye fasteners; today, the literature describes no fewer than 15 different methods of pulling off the trick, using such devices as Velcro, magnets, and "fish bone pull fasteners." What separates David & Dania from the pack is not just the number of "transformations" they execute, but their use of ballroom dancing steps as segues—their routines have been expertly arranged by a professional choreographer. The result is a show that not only dazzles—particularly the move in which Dania's dress changes from plain red to one with an American-flag motif beneath a shower of silver glitter—but is also planned to the hilt. Night in, night out, a game-ops director is guaranteed to get the same show, right down to the hand gestures. About the only thing that changes is the jersey that David dons in one segment—in a recent addition to the show, he now does a transformation into the home team's uniform.

Popular as the act may be with the NBA, basketball engagements alone do not a career make. Jeff Wohlschlaeger, game-ops director for the Chicago Bulls and David & Dania's booking coordinator for the NBA, refused to reveal how many halftimes David & Dania play every year, or what their fee might be, but he admitted that it's not a living unto itself—especially since travel costs usually aren't covered by a team. Fortunately for David & Dania, pro basketball provides only one of their revenue streams; they're also a summer fixture on ships operated by Royal Caribbean Cruise International, and they have a huge following in Europe. They've recently branched out into product endorsement, too; Dania has her own line of aluminum hula hoops, and David sells a color-changing top hat for a cool $325.

Why have I never heard of this site????

Not only are there great candidates for President on the Democratic side, but there are some pretty amazing spouses of the candidates.

First off we have Bill Clinton who is one of the most interesting people on the planet. We also have Elizaeth Edwards who is very courageous, smart, out spoken and opinionated. However, maybe the most intriguing candidate's spouse is Michelle Obama. Here she is introducing her husband in Iowa.




What a difference she would be from some of the first ladies of the past. No librarian here.
